Hi everyone,

I am the CEO of a (very) small company providing a niche SaaS.

When remaking our website in 2023, we agreed with my team that we were going to use white hat only, because sooner or later, black hat would be penalized ... Naive ?
We have been third since. We suspect the 2 first competitors using gray / black techniques.
With the April 2024 roll out, we almost made it to become in first position.
Bur right after the release, our competitions recovered +15 points, and we are now back in the 3rd position.

Is it possible that you guys explain to me what technique are used and if it is worth complaining ?
Here are some elements on our competitor(s) :
- Sudden increase / decrease in ranking
- Large spread
- Exotic locations visiting our website
- The SEMrush graph in attachment (wer are the blue ones)

Any help would be so much appreciated.

Cheers

it is possible that your competitor is using methods like aggressive link Building and Keyword stuffing or maybe cloaking to manipulate ranking.
so if you suspect any foul play you can raise a ticket to Google through spam report form or by GSC Report spam feature.

Hi tylero,
Thanks foryour response. How do you believe we can find out which technique is used so that we can report ?
Cheers

Just give us the urls, so we can check, that's the easiest way...

You just need to hire a good seo provider from BHW who has lot of good positive reviews. And be very careful in sharing the urls of your website with anyone here. You might just increase your competition because of that.

HTML:
<z "courtigo" "dot" "fr"></z>

It's inside the z tag :)

As you know for people to make backlinks they don't have to access to your website
so anyone can send backlinks to your website black or grey
so even if you decided to go white hat that still not your decision anyone can send you black

From countries not addressed by our products, eg: FIN, BGL
Alright then, try using .htacces rules for deny permission to all external countries outside your operation circle. Few lines can do this.

better post in the whitehat section, real blackhats (and men) dont like to snitch and out others ;)

no one is probably going to help you with this attitude,
you should focus in getting your website up instead of getting other's down ;)

Just make an SEO analysis of your competitors with Semrush to see exactly what are they doing.
