number of targeted keyword / number of words in the page.

So, if you target "best shoes for running". This is 4 words keywords.

If you mentioned it in your page once and ur page has 400 words, this means u have 1% keyword density.

4 (Mention of targeted keyword cuz its 4 words) /(divided by) 400 = 1% which is too high btw.

So, for such keyword u need +600 words article and one mention in the title :D

And this is sir why many people believe keyword density doesn't matter anymore :D Cuz in most cases they don't need to mention it in their threads as google already knows what u are targeting from the title.

If you are starting, don't use the keywords more than twice in the article and use many of lsi keywords instead. So, running shoes, jogging , sneakers, sports footwear ...etc

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. In the context of search engine optimization, keyword density can be used to determine whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.

In the late 1990s, the early days of search engines, keyword density was an important factor in page ranking. However, as webmasters discovered how to implement optimum keyword density, search engines began giving priority to other factors beyond the direct control of webmasters. Today, the overuse of keywords, a practice called keyword stuffing, will cause a web page to be penalized Etc..

Keyword density – is a percentage of keywords compared to the whole content of a subdomain. Due to the development of search engines and their more advanced ability to analize content, including recognition of synonyms or similar phrases, it is an obsolete way to optimize a website's content (when it comes to SEO).

Keyword density tells you how often a search term appears in a text in relation to the total number of words it contains. For example: if a keyword appears three times in a 100 word text the keyword density would be 3%. From the point of view of search engines, a high keyword density is a good indicator of search engine spam. If a keyword appears too often in a website, search engines will downgrade the website and it will then appear lower down in search results.

Keyword density is the ratio of keywords used in the specific content of the web page to the total words that constitute the entire content.
