What is inbound link and outbound link?

I am a fresher and recently joined an SEO firm. While going through the discussions I regularly come accross this term inbound and outbound links. Can I know exactly what it is?

The difference can be clearly mentioned using your website. Let us keep your website name as X and your friendly website name as Y.

Inbound Link: If a link placed in website Y and that link connect you site this is inbound link. That is a link coming in.

Outbound: If your website(X) mention a link to the website Y. Then it is outbound link. The links go out of your website.

Inbound links = all of the links from other website/page that points to your website/page.

Outbound links = all of the outgoing links from your website/page to other website/page.

Inbound links are those links which are coming to our website from another website whereas outbound link are those types of links which are going to another site from our site. Inbound link is known as back links and outbound links are known as outgoing links.
