I would assume sites are not re-indexed virtually instantly when you submit a fetch and index in Search Console, otherwise people would use it like Pagespeed tool and test a gazillion on-page tweaks in a matter of minutes.

I also realize the ranking of a site is effected by a gazillion changes going on with other site.

Just wondering with a newer, lesser known, fairly small site, if I did a significant rewrite of the content, changed internal linking structure, etc, and went to Search Console and submitted a fetch and index, how much time *typically / on average* would people guess it would take to see the effect on the rank (if there is any) assuming the main competing sites had no signifcant change in their content or backlink profile?

No replies? Really? Huh? it's that much of a mystery to even you seasoned SEO people?

Could be a couple of days (48 hours) to a 7 days. At least thats the ranges I approximately get on my website.

I have also seen new articles being put into index and ranking within 24h. My website is little more than one year old.
