What is generally a safe follow limit per hour?

I've been bumping into the following limit a bit and instagram locked me from following for 12 hours.

What is typically the 'most' following actions to do per hour? I previously hadn't had any trouble with it, but over time I'd gradually upped the following numbers to doing bursts of 60 every several times an hour as I never seemed to get any pushback.

Also, if anyone knows, when you get the 'slow down' warnings, is that some sort of strike towards being banned? Or will you just get indefinite slow down warnings?

I think it varies per account, but anything higher than 50/hour for a fresh new account may get you in trouble.

Ah its not really fresh. its a few months old with 5k+ followers.

I think I've been overdoing it a bit in the past days as I had never hit on any verbal warning. Sometimes they would make the 'follow' button inactive if you pruned your following right back.

i do around 100 a hour. 25 follows max in 10 minutes. No problems at all.
