In a day and age when everyone is desperate to make a quick buck and it's becoming more complex to be original and innovative in business, I'm wondering what the BHW community think? What's it all about?

Why be original, just copy a successful concept and learn how to sell, no need to be innovative to make money, learning to sell though is a must.
Absolutely - selling skills are key, though I suppose needing to be innovative or not depends on the concept/product/service on offer - finding something that hasn't been done before or finding that niche is important too.

When someone tells me they are an entrepreneur, I start to feel suspicious. Real entrepreneurs would never define themselves that way

Gurus have definitely made the term worse, but it always came off as a bit pretentious. Kinda like when a girl says "i'm a model" when asked about occupation.

Very few people who ply their trades online have legitimately unique or innovative products.

You can be hugely successful if you excel in just one of; Customer Support, Pricing, or Quality.

Amen

find a necessity and make it accesible for everyone, people love easy things and the simple you can make it the more people will acquire it or start a restaurant, people will always be hungry and have to eat :D

too true...food and education is a dead cert

Other POV: You have access to the whole world and a ton of knowledge. I would argue that it's way easier now to find a way to solve some problem for some business and make a ton of money. Inventing the wheel is harder then you think.

Absolutely agree. Access globally via tech has certainly opened up more avenues - does that then negate the importance of F2F selling/customer relations?
