What is *Dropped* backlink in Ahrefs?

Dropped backlinks are those you had but for some reason now are removed
 
Basically links that the site deleted or removed, or if an entire site went offline or deleted your URL.

At times when ahrefs bot is unable to access a webpage, it marks all the outbound links on that page as dropped. Same goes with majestic.
 
Yeah lost backlinks in both Ahrefs and Majestic is pretty unreliable, I don't pay too much attention to them unless its either a very important link or there is a larger than normal number of lost links. Other than that its mostly just noise.

It's pretty much self explanatory, a link that has been removed or is not live anymore.
