What is considered to be a goot CTR? and average view duration?

CTR - is the thumbnail and click bait title my best bet?
In my 6 videos so far my CTR is ranging between 13-30%, most of them being in the teens. Is that good?

Average view duration is this the same thing as retention?
If so, I would imagine having high quality content is the best way to have high retention.
But for example.

I have 5 videos that are 3 minutes long. - The average view duration I am getting on those are 1-1.5 minutes.
The one long video I recently uploaded is 20 minutes long and it has an average view duration of 6 minutes.

I am always going to get higher retention on short videos am I not? I cant possibly think of having 50% retention on average on a 20 minute long video.


Also, I noticed that the impressions that are being shown on youtube are different for all my videos. Why are some videos being shown a lot more then others? My longest video with the highest ctr has the least amount of impressions?

I am just trying to become more informed on these metrics. Let me know if I am barking up the right branch. Still new and trying to learn every day!

I believe your CTR is quite good. Ofcourse it also depends on what others' videos in the same niche are netting.

For video retention, 50% is a good benchmark but again it depends on your competitors' stats.

to keep things simple for me.. i go for CTR +10% and 50% Retention
ps: i never did a video longuer than 8 min

These are extremely high numbers. You found an awesome audience, and weak competition to get such high CTR. Expect it to go down, but even still...anything over 10% is doing extremely well

anything above 10% is considered really good for CTR! and for retention, anything around 40%.
