What is the CID number in GMB? What is it used for? When people ask for the Google Maps URL or when you're ordering SEO services for other people, do you give them the CID URL or do you find the business on Google Maps and copy and paste that URL? And why?

Its Customer ID number, this is used to send your custom map url also some of the local seo experts like me use it for backlinks to your gmb as it will help to improve the ranking

Kiranraj is correct.
I'd recommend to use the CID URL with customers since the link is a lot more friendly looking compared to grabbing the URL from Google Maps (if using naked url)
It's also recommended to use the CID URL when you are embedding Google Maps on your website.

To be exact: CID = 'cluster documentId' but yes same as either company or customer id.
