what is best?

so i am thinking about going to college/university/institution but i just cant figure out what to study.

i'm thinking about graphic design & web development but i saw it was only 2 semesters and in 2 semesters i know i cannot learn anything but the basics which i've already learn online. i was also thinking about studying computer repair i'm not to into hardware and fixing but i guess it is better than not doing anything.

what do you guys recommend?

Personally I say if you dont know what to study then dont go at all. Did you know some 80% (or around that number) of college graduates cannot get a job and left 10s of thousands of dollars in debt? You can learn virtually anything you could in college, online for free or cheap. The only thing you pay for when going to school is that piece of paper at the end proving that you did in fact learn it.

I vote against debt 1st. College is good, as education is good, but currently the mass-media indoctrinates people into believing that going into deep debt (say $50,000 or more) for a 4-year degree that has no direct connection to making money in the future (either because the field is underpaid, or the recipient of the degree has no interest in the focus of the degree).

College is a means to an end, and nothing more. If you haven't got a clear track laid out, why would you do it. Sure, walking across the desert with only a canteen of water is something that "they can never take away from you" and you will "always have that sense of accomplishment", but there are also CONSEQUENCES to wasting 4 years of your life and going deeply into debt in order to get a piece of paper that says you might know something about something, but it says absolutely nothing about your work ethic, your character, your analytical ability and (MAIN POINT HERE) whether or not you are going to generate income from your employer.

Cause that is ALL they fucking care about, unless you want to go work for the fat-ass government, living well off the labors of other people's efforts. (I hate these fucks btw, and am looking forward to the upcoming revolution.)

Which is another thing to consider. Just 2 days ago, I talked to the Store Manager of a local business that is going out of business after 40 years. Why? The economy in general, wholesalers are competing with their distributors in the retail market (makes money in short term and can spell death in the long term) and 3) Obamacare starts next year and health care costs are going up 40%. Another guy told me 400%, in some circumstances.

A weak economy is not going to withstand that. Massive lay-offs, inflation, huge spike in crime and the formation of anti-government militias, is what's coming. And you ain't getting no college education in the middle of all that. Figure out a way to start making some money and save every fucking penny you can. Pay attention to the stories from the Great Depression, because what's coming is going to make THAT look like a long Christmas Holiday.

Hey study computer science if you are looking to go deeper inside the IT industry (be it IM/ programming or anything else). You are never gonna fail if you do that (unless you are a complete idiot obviously).

Which country do you belong to? Go for any degree that involves computer science / application. As for example, MCA (if you belong to India) , BE in computer Science, or similar courses. Make sure it's a full time degree course, not a diploma and not a hardware course (computer hardware sucks as a profession, especially when it is about getting paid).I have been in real bad situation trying to pursue other subject than computer, and finally had success after I came back to my girl friend ( i.e. computer ).. Do not get disheartened by anyone's comment here. Just study in any branch of Computer science , become a graduate and start your own business / get into a job. Best of luck.

i live in Puerto Rico, and there are like no jobs available even to those who have college degree.only jobs available here are selling drugs which i will not be a part of.

By getting into IT, you can be international. You don't need to care about the local jobs. When you say "there is no job", you mean that there aren't enough businesses in your locality. So, it might be the time for you to change the scenario.

Go for something that you're passionate about and something that isn't too broad. There's nothing worse than having a course that is too general and just not specific enough. Of course knowing what specifically you want to get a qualification in is the hard part - where you do see you self in 5 years time? What career would you want to be in?

Those are fun career choices but know that if you are in the career to make money there is an extremely small chance that you can make any good money with that. Even if you are really good, in this day and age it takes more then skill in the music industry, its also your connections, image (something that you have very little control over), and a large sum of luck. But if money is not something you care too much about then by all means do what makes you happy.

well money is always important, but i mean i write songs and poems in spanish not english. and i take like 1 hour or 2 to write something that actually makes sense and has meaning. and a song well composed can sell anywhere from houndreds to thousands. but just as you said, i need conections and lots of luck
