I am keen to know what others are doing. It's all well and good getting 300 hits a day to a multi-page site but if only 5 click through to your CB site then it's worthless.
Here's some things I have tried over the years:
All-in-all, the header short review and the rotating ecovers in the sidebar worked best but still not amazing.
Please share your tips folks. I really want to up the CTR of my sites and we can all help each other. Even with what I have learned I would still like to improve it much more.
Here's some things I have tried over the years:
- big prominent header with ecover and a little review text and even some stars. got good click throughs
- fake Adsense like text ads within the text. This got some OK CTRs, probably comparable to Adsense
- 468x80 and skyscraper banners. In-line square banners. Lowest CTR of all my methods. People are blind to this shit.
- Call to action and link under every post. Works well but I can't help but think that Google don't like this. Is it too "spammy"?
- Rotating ebook covers in the sidebar. This actually worked pretty well and made a lot of sales this way.
- prominent link to a review page reviewing 3 CB products. Worked OK but nothing spectacular.
