Does anyone know from experience what the average smallest would be for an in house Seo and web design person? (basically full online presence management)?

From the perspective of medium size business owner (seven figure turnover) If someone was enthusiastic and came to work for me on one of my ecommerce sites I'd pay around £20 - £25k/year + bonuses but it would be vital that you had management skills aswell, and be capable in Photoshop / PHP / Magento / Unix.

If the person was good and turned out to be one of those people who was a natural you could probably press for a percentage of the net profit of the site. So you could earn a fair bit and quite rightly deserve to.

Smart developers do their own thing and have their own sites and businesses, and do freelance on the side.

You say the smallest amount.. well, probably around £20,000 a year. Biggest, probably something like £50,000+, but that is if you work for a big company.
