I know im gonna get killed for this but anytime I read about someone talking about affiliates someone always brings up "shaving". Im assuming its something bad, but I am new to cpa and have search on here and google and cant find the meaning to this phrase.

cpa company doesent pay you for some of your leads some are worse then others just try them.

CPA works like this.

Theres a advertiser that pays for leads/sales. The CPA company is the middle man. When you sign up with CPA companies, they give you a list of companies they do advertising for.

Shaving is when you get leads/sales, but the CPA company does not pay you for them, but keeps the advertiser's money that is supposed to go to you.

But sometimes, the advertiser wont pay the CPA company. So really, you never know if your getting shaved or not by your CPA company, because it could be the advertiser not paying.

Long story short, it means that the CPA company is taking a little off the top. But if you are not claiming any affiliate money on your taxes, then consider the CPA company the mob, and you're paying your taxes.

Split test the same campaigns on different networks and see which one performs better, keep your variables the same besides the network.

The post from Patel is correct. Almost every CPA will shave, some just are worse than others... My thoughts would be to find a company that has had a long standing of good reputation with payouts, keep track of outgoing clicks, and compare with what the CPA says you have.

But advertisers sometimes will not pay, and if you see that an ad of a certain variety keeps being put on hold, also stay away from those, because that means they are not paying the CPA company.

Thanks and Rep given for not killing me on that one lol. Thanks man.

I think your question is a relevant one. This is not a widely ask question. That is why you have gotten good answers. All in all it is part of the growing corporate dishonesty. And so the game goes on with this type of practice. If it was a perfect world there would be no need for blackhatters.
