What is a transparent proxy?

    by the sounds of it not much, whats the point of a proxy that doesnt hide your i.p. Can someone clear this up for me please, do they actually hide your ip?

    Not normally - a transparent proxy is one that say an ISP would use to cache often visited websites. For example, in the UK, maybe sites like bbc.co.uk etc

    They occasionally (maybe all the time - can't say) forward your true IP as well (X_FORWARDED_FOR).

    Thats a quick 2 minute off the top of me head - hit google for the full whats what.

    Fatboy is right. Transparent proxies have no value for much of what we do in BHW.

    so just to be clear i shouldnt use transparent proxies in scrapebox?

    In a VPS far far away...
    Transparent proxy - all sites can see your original URL

    Anonymous proxy - 99% of the sites cant't see your original URL

    Elite proxy - 100%of the sites can't see your original URL and not even that you are using a proxy
