What is a proxy?

I know I have been here a long time now but I still donot know what a proxy exactly is.I made a thread earlier asking about a proxy but I haven't been answered.I donot know if this is the right section to ask or not.
But still can anybody briefly explain what a proxy is and for how many days can we buy a proxy if I like to maintain à new account different from my ip address.

It is so basic to search it rather creating a new thread mate.
though i would let you know about it. consider you want to access some site but don't want to disclose your ip address to resources you accessing, in that case you use a proxy i.e. an ip address which doesn't belong to you. by using that ip address other world can't trace you from where there resources are being accesses.
like you are in Germany and want you access anything but don't want to know the owner abou yourself, you will be using US proxy so that owner of resource seems that user accessing is from US and not from Germany.

Thanks mate I knew this but the thing I wanted to know is how many days can we keep a proxy for after purchasing it??

proxy are charged on monthly basis. also you have flexibility to buy it for quarterly or annually and save some bucks.
you can find many proxy provider in BHW marketplace.

@hem98 In layman terms: it's just a condom for using the internet. If you engage in illicit / black hat / spam activities, better use one.

Proxy = IP Address
Every device what connects to internet should have IP Address.
Proxy is just more IP Addresses on one PC, so they are free to use from other devices.

Proxies - IP addresses that could be used by others to hide your own. There are data center proxies and residential proxies. Data center proxies are cheaper, but they die faster and in most cases gets blocked (if you are trying to make accs or so). Residential proxies are IPs of actual people (homeowners, lets say like that), so you are connecting as a legit human.
Out of all this, these proxies could be also dedicated, or not. Dedicated proxies are not shared with anyone else and only used by one user.

In simple terms Proxy [Also called Internet Protocol / IP] is a connection on the internet, When you access something on the internet then you have working proxy to access the internet. It is assigned by ISP. From this proxy, they track you what you are surfing on the internet.
