You need 100 quality posts to qualify for JrVIP membership upgrade. These are posts within threads so yes, if you make several posts within a thread it will count as several posts towards your 100 post requirement.
There are certain areas of the forum, such as the lounge, where posts do not contribute towards the 100 post requirement.

Also, please take your time and think about contributing to the forum rather than specifically aiming to increase your post count because deliberately trying to inflate your post count with low quality content is against the rules (I am sure you won't do that, but I am just giving you all of the information).

If you don't renew your membership after the first year, then your status will revert back to a standard member status. But I am sure once you go JrVIP you will never go back
