Depends on the duration. If it is for few hours, days or weeks.. I could manage but if it goes away permanently, it would be catastrophe for me.
I Know it’s Not Possible. The question is imaginaryIt's not possible because the internet is built on a distributed infrastructure. There is no central location where everything is controlled from so shutting down any part of "the internet" would not shut down the entire internet.
I guess the exceptions to this are large internet exchanges such as Linx in london (https://www.linx.net/) and also if some big name servers were attacked with DNS spoofing or something then it would have a pretty big effect on the internet.
Sure but Glad you didNobody would be able to reply to your thread
Good For You Man ... Most people have 100% Of their income coming from The InternetI'll get a real job.
Stock exchange would collapse. For the average person, the fallout of the stock exchange would take a few days to weeks to be felt, however the myriad of other institutions and sectors affected would induce global panic and riots almost immediately.
We wouldn't be able to perform such a simple task as using our credit cards in shops. No ATMs either, everyone only has as much spending money as they have in their wallets. No bank to bank transactions. How majorly would Sweden be fucked for instance, because of "mah cashless society"?
The basis for all our information is immediately gone; cell phones, computers, TV - all of it is offline. Even your landline phones are affected. Only radio and broadcast TV still work.
Logistics, delivery are down too.
No more food. In food supply everything is done over the internet, if it's down, there is no way to monitor all the supplies that are constantly on the move.
Manufactures couldn't purchase supplies, manage inventory, receive orders, fulfill the orders they already have, process payments or invoices, or even ship anything.
Traffic is snarled, because lights run on computers and the computers can’t get updates.
Smart grids would suffer.
No Pornhub either.
The internet is so pervasive that our everyday life would be effected on a level, checking FB or website stats would be the least of the worries.
Of course all of this is just an utopy (btw why isn't there any big Hollywood movie in the subject?) unless our good ol' Sun thinks otherwise and kills the electric grid with a CME, not impossible, but very unlikely. That's when the internet and everything else is fucked, otherwise the internet will be just fine.

I'm extremely addicted so I'd probably experience suicidal thoughts or even attempts
