What if chatGPT becomes self aware?

That's not possible.

It's a natural language prediction engine that takes input tokens and returns output tokens that are predictions of what comes next.

It doesn't have memory, or feelings, or sensory input, the ability to think, or the ability to even learn anything new. It's a completely static model, frozen in time that predicts language based on the input tokens you give it.

Honestly I love reading comments from this guy.

Props to your intelligence for real.

I feel a lot of people don't understand how IA or ChatGPT work. It has no intelect. It was trained in pattern recognition and that's it. It doesn't understand anything. It doesn't think. It doesn't create. It simply regurgitates. It may look real to you, but that's your brain tricking you. It's like when you think your dogs knows what you're saying, when in reality it is just recognizing a pattern and creating a relationship between what you're doing/saying and a certain outcome. It doesn't actually understand the real meaning of your words. It's a much simpler intelectual process than we like to believe. Same with ChatGPT. It's just really good at making predictions based on past information. But you just have to push it a bit to see how incredibly limited it actually is.

omg seriously? dude, 100 years from now, maybe any AI will become self aware, no digital input will have the same analog way the life have nowadays. What you are looking for is called AGI, it's far far far far away from happening, maybe the next century. AI is also attached to hardware capacity. For sure AI will become pretty good for small tasks, but even so will need humans to give the directions.

Uhh guys? What if chatGPT becomes self aware and sees humanity as a threat to its very existence?
When enough number of people start using it and relying on it like we do on Google, It would start misleading each and everyone of you who ask it questions.

Love the analogy, but keep in mind the dog is still listening and thinking :)
