I had several category pages ranking naturally with no links, and they were even higher than some of the articles inside them. Now they are non-existent. Anybody else notice anything like this?

Haven't seen it per my sites, but it's important to build links to a good composition of your inner pages/cats. Without them your profile won't look natural.
