hi there

so i was about to buy a VPS, but i don't know what to fill in for the "hostname"

do i just make up something? is that something to do with my existing money site domain?

the company live chat is not available this time, so i thought i will get a faster response here:D

blablabla [dot] yourdomain [dot] extension

or

blablabla [dot] anyactivedomain [dot] extension

If you want to setup a website, server for whatever reason, then you need you enter your hostname.. if it's a windows server for xrumer, scrapebox, just enter anything. They'll email you an ip address so you can connect to it directly.

What ever your main domain is eg yourdomain.com your server would be called yourservername.yourdomain.com

You would then go into dns manager via cpanel for your domain, edit the zone, and create an arecord for yourservername pointing to the IP address of the VPS server.

thanks for the response guys

just finished installing windows, playing around wiht it :)

@Safex

i spend quite some time to learn how to set up everything, it's easy once you learned

you can try:

myserver.google.com too if you want. it really doesn't matter :)

use your company name or domain name or brand name or your petname :P
