If you're running auto-posting SEO software without proxies on a VPS, it's very likely you'll get your service suspended or cancelled as soon as the first complaint comes in. If you're using it on a local machine with your ISP connection you might survive some complaints (like I did in 2008 when a guy from BT phoned asked why I was sending so many threads worth of data to a website - I just said it's probably a virus!). Posting proxies are cheap though, there's no real reason not to use them.

You'll be unable to post to any sites after a short while and potentially accounts created with your IP could go bye-bye shortly thereafter.
Proxies are a necessity and for the few dollars a month you could protect the work you are doing.
