    I have a blog page with 30 backlinks (from yahoo site explorer)

    If I delete this page, what happens to these backlinks?

    These backlinks are lost or are automatically redirect to the main page of my blog?

    Open that URL in your browser and see.

    It will almost certianly be a 404 error page or a redirect to your root domain, or another page.

    If you are using wordpress there is a really easy hack to redirect all broken urls to your homepage by creating a 404.php page in your theme and getting it to 301 back to your homepage.

    The same can be achieved in .htaccess where you can redirect specific urls, or send all 404 errors back to your homepage.

    301 redirect, won't lose backlink juice.

    Code:
    <?php

    //Simple Redirect for WordPress.

    header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
    header("Location: ".get_bloginfo('url'));

    exit();

    ?>

    Just replace you 404.php code with that in your theme files.
    Peace,
    ~e.

    How would this work if it is not a blog but just a website page and one wanted to rename it and not lose the link juice?

    For example:

    sitename/bc.htm and I wanted to change the filename to sitename/baby_chair.htm

    Is the code for doing this pretty straight forward?

    You got the same issue and a 301 redirect is best if you don't want to lose the backlinks. Why not keep it and just create the new page as well?
