May be Google is blackmailing you for Adsense ads

one or more of these reasons:
- bad user experience (sluggish site, poor navigation, no silo structure, no interlinking, too many affiliate links)
- poor content (especially if in competitive and/or big earning niche)
- new domain name (especially if in competitive / big earning niche where new domains have a hard time breaking into top 20)
- bad anchor profile (in case you built backlinks without diversifying the anchor text)
- google penalty of some sort
There could be many reasons, honestly and no one can tell without fully auditing your site or taking a close look at it. It could also be that your site is in a very competitive and/or profitable niche and google doesn't want mortals eating at the same table with the sharks

having a "white hat" website doesn't necessarily make it the good choice neither protected against any of the google updates,
Google loves links and it's not a secret, so if you want to rank back, you have either to wait, keep posting content and targeting low competitive keyword or get some links that will give you a boost, which should work pretty well with the low competitive keywords with some interlinking

It could be a cause of Page Speed and Old Contents,
Update your web content regularly on your website.
Encourage engagement and feedback to find out exactly what your customers think about you.
Accordingly, make some unique changes to their needs.
Research your competitors, periodically.
Reduce Keyword cannibalization, the usage of similar keyword
Strengthen your social media presence.
