It may be typo-squatting/ad related ...
You type something that Google searches on, it comes up in Google's ads/search results as an exact match (including mistyped words), but those ads/destinations (many of them) are all owned/operated by searchportal.information.com and immediately redirect you to the searchportal site. Location Bar searches, AFAIK, tend to take you to the most likely site rather than list search hits.
Searchportal probably pays Google big $$$ for all those ad destinations, and they're hoping you'll click on their links and earn them money.
