NOTE: I just saw this post on the quora and wanted to share it on BHW since I am from Turkey too and this post has enough and true information about the coup attempt that happened in the last 4 days. I agree with the post owner completely:

In Ankara, jets are passing over veeeery low. There are too many and it is scary. Also I just saw a police helicopter.
The prime minister gave a speech on TV , saying “It is a coup attempt-military uprising”
The Army confirmed they have "taken over administration” in Turkey
There is a rumour about Army Chief of Staff taken hostage (Anadolu Agency claimed that)
Mayor of Ankara calls everybody (government supporters) to the streets to protest this coup attempt (wtf?)
I hear too many ambulances’ and jets’ noises. Even retired soldiers are on their way.
EDİT: Soldiers are in the Anadolu Agency now, so it would be better not to believe their news

EDİT: President Erdoğan is talking to CNN through Facetime. Calls everybody to streets
EDİT : Bombs exploded in Ankara again. 2 or 3 bombs.
EDİT: Now everything seems normal again. I don’t know what that was but we had some serious problems and now probably everything is going to be worse.
No political party in Turkey supported the coup. They all said they support the democracy. We had experienced attempted coups before (in 1960 and one in 1980), it was horrible. Nobody wants to live through those again.
Currently government supporters are on the road, honking again and again.
EDIT: 17 police officers were killed in Ankara. It is confirmed.
EDIT: People are chanting “ALLAHUEKBER” and cars are everywhere. People on the streets are trying to stop tanks. Mosques called everybody to streets for the sake of democracy and Turkish government. And after that, they recited azan.
Nobody knows whats happening but I can still hear guns shooting. It seems like this is a failed coup attempt and now the government will be even stronger.
EDIT: Ankara airspace is closed to all flights. They will be immediately shot down if they enter (Prime Minister said)

I didn’t believe this is a coup at first, but now I think it was a horribly failed attempted coup. Soldiers dropping bombs on the people, opening fire, they went totally crazy. People believe this was aided by the USA and it failed.
The reporter who read the statement of the coup on TV said she was threatened with guns.
F-16s are everywhere, they fly over very low and I don’t know whether they're bombing something or if it is their sonic boom

FINAL EDIT: I think it is over now. We will live with this trauma as an another Turkish generation who experienced an attempted coup. I never supported the coup, nobody did actually. Government claimed this coup attempt planned by a minority of Turkish army(3%) who supports F.Gülen. A lot of people who are not fans of the current government think this is a show to increase their power and make the country Islamist step by step and bring the Presidental System.
What have I learned from this? I saw thousands of people who throw themselves to streets just because beavers said so. (They started to call everybody to streets from the beginning when there were only jets are passing over but no attacks yet) They took to the streets and attacked and killed soldiers. Soldiers crazily opened fire to their people. They bombed the parliament god’s sake! People chanted “Allahüekber” as if it is an attack against their religion which was away from that. They were not a peaceful and democracy supporting people, they were just a few lynchers who were on the streets for fear that their government (and their so called advantageous life ) is about to over.
Look all these democracy supporter, I hardly believe what they want is “democracy”
I was happy that the attempt failed. But after seeing that scene, where people are lynching soldiers to save democracy, who is going to protect us from these barbarians?
(I didn’t put bloody horrible photos which are disturbing and heartbreaking, there was a rumour that people cut the throat of one soldier but it seems like it is a terrible speculation, I edited that)
RESULT: 104 pro-coup soldiers died. 161 people were killed (civilians+anti-coup soldiers and police forces)
2,839 military personnel arrested, 2,745 judges and prosecutors were suspended , 5 HSYK (Supreme council of judges and prosecutors ) members’ membership were canceled. 88 judges and prosecutors were arrested."
But the country is still under the risk and the government needs to be very careful.
