Thats easy - they got massive traffic here: https://www.bestvpn.com/guides/pirate-bay-alternatives/ - over 3M (was ranking in the top 5 for pirate bay and similar), decided to monetize and redirected the page to this: https://www.bestvpn.com/vpn-comparison/best-vpn-torrenting/ -> as result all traffic is gone.
For the other pages traffic loss is insignificant so all in all they traded high traffic, no money page for low traffic high monetization one.

Well imagine you have 3M traffic page that made $500 per month OR 10k traffic page that made $1k. Which one you prefer?

Truth to be told if I was in their place probably would just put pop ups and CTA and whatnot at the high traffic page, not redirecting.. but maybe they was scared to have links to torrents websites on their site, who knows.. or some "nice" and "friendly" agency told them that this page better go down or they will, who knows..

I think its links. Saw quite a few websites that have such aggressive link building velocity getting hit in the past few months. This one got like 900 RDs since January.. for me is hard to believe that those are natural links. Probably for Google too.

I think this latest update does go in this direction. I think Chrome and AI are stronger and stronger ranking factor.
Anyway the above analysis seems right. They had a content page and redirected it to their landing page.
As some pointed out: no use being commercial and having 3 million people visit one page and not generate sales. Big bandwidth bill, etc.
