That's a nice little trick. What's the usual cost associated?
Registering a GMB is a free, verifying it without access to the address is the tricky part, most people sell that service for $200 to $300 USD per GMB at the moment.
I happen to know some methods to verify for free, but I am sure you could hit up FB marketplace to find someone to do it for less than $20.

Free would be Google Autosuggest, PAAs, Whatsmyserp (Google Extension).
But if you can buy SEMrush and (probably) Ahrefs for a cheaper price in group buys why not go for it?
