What exactly is happening when I PING?

OK, I know I should always ping a new blog post or webpage when it's created. - either automatically in Wordpress or with something like pingler.com.

When I do a manual ping with pingler.com, I see it contacting places like: "blogsearch.google.ro/ping/RPC2 - Thanks for the ping."

What exactly happens after "blogsearch.google.ro/ping/RPC2" is notified of my update? It's telling the Google bot to take a look at what I've done? Does the Google bot do this immediately or is it cached somewhere?

Does this guarantee that my page will be indexed? Will ANYTHING be indexed if I ping it? (like a profile page that I create in Angelas backlink package)

If I want a webpage indexed, should I build a backlink to it with a bookmarking site or is pinging enough?

It doesn't necessarily mean you'll get indexed but your chances are much higher as now, Google knows your address.

So what are your chances of having the Google bot come running for you after your a ping? Does PR affect it? Obviously with highly rated sites, Google indexes stuff immediately after a ping. Is doing a ping in vain if you're brand new?

it's about crawling , crawling process is not means pages will be indexed , it's mean just the bot will come and visit your pages , then , if the robot will consider this page it's valuable somehow for users who search on google will show your url simple as it

For the most part just linking into the page from just about anything will get you indexed. Check your access logs and you should see that googlebot comes into your sites looking for changes daily to the index page and often will find your other pages on its own.

I'm Sure Pinging Notifies Google That Your Site Is Live And Doesn't It Notify Some High PR Blogs Like Technorati Or Am I Wrong?

guys, is that all the pinging stuff really needed? especially when using a wordpress blog? i mean, you can copy the list on pingler.com right and add it on your wp blog for automatic pinging? plus i also think the wp plugin xml site map maker automatically informs all these search engines that you added a post or something...

What i wanna know is how does Google know its a 'blog' because their algos are obviously geared towards indexed these articles fast. It can't be just the xml rpc ping

pinging is still pretty powerfull. If you want to make sure of that, publish a post on wordpress and ping it, then create a static html page on a server, and do not do anything else- no extra links, do not promote them, nothing.

In 80% of the case, the wordpress post will get indexed on its own. The static html page will never get indexed, google won't find it- unless you send links or something.

I think it makes Google index you faster.
