What exactly is blog posting in SEO?

I keep hearing people say blog posting helps with SEO, but I want to be clear on what it really means. Is it just publishing articles on your own site, or posting content on other blogs with backlinks?
Does it still work in 2025 for ranking, or is it more for branding and authority building now?
Would love to hear how you guys are using blog posting effectively.

Blog posting is basically writing articles on your site to target keywords and keep content fresh. It helps Google see your site as active and builds topical relevance.
 
When people talk about it in SEO, sometimes they also mean guest posting. That’s writing on someone else’s blog with a backlink to your site. Both approaches can work, just different goals.
 
It’s not as powerful as years ago, but still works if done right. Focus on quality posts, real sites, and relevance. Spammy blog posts don’t help much anymore.

In 2025, posting on a blog still helps with SEO, but it's not as simple as it used to be. Publishing good content on your own site makes you an expert on the subject, brings in organic traffic, and keeps your site fresh for search engines. Guest blogging on other blogs with backlinks still works, but only on sites that are relevant and trustworthy. Spammy link-building doesn't work anymore. At this stage, blogging is less about getting rapid rankings and more about developing your brand's authority, getting more people to see your posts, and making content that people want to share and link to.

time consuming work , instead trying dig some money over affiliate sales and revenue .
 
from what I’ve seen blog posting is to submit high quality articles to your website or guest posts to increase visibility and authority if it has value
 
Blogs still help a lot with the SEO. With link building and bringing organic visits to your site. Keeping the content fresh and unique is the best thing one can do to stay on top of the ranking
 
Blog posting still works, but it varies from niche to niche. Posting on other sites also has benefits, and the goal depends on your strategy
 
In 2025 it feels less about keyword stuffing and more about showing EEAT and building topical authority.
 
Blog posting boosts SEO through both your site and guest posts with backlinks, still working in 2025 for ranking and brand authority!
