What exactly is a lead?

Can someone break it down and tell me what (or who) exactly qualifies as a lead? I've tried multiple times to use a proxy to test my own content locker, but regardless of the offer I can't get it to unlock? It just takes me in a never-ending cycle of advertisements/surveys and no matter how many of em I fill out, when i go back to the content locker it is still locked.

Is a lead pre-defined based on specific criteria? For example, an offer may only be looking for people in north-east states so only email submits with a zip-code in the north-east states would qualify as a lead?

in cpa a lead is a client requesting a certain tracking pixel from a server
 
Whenever you referr a potential buyer, that's a lead.

What you're asking is what's an Action, somehow your visitors are not completing the actions. What is the action that generates $? Entering a PIN number they received via phone? Sending in their email address? Whatever it is, it's not completing.
 
Any piece of information that could lead to a sale is a lead. Where as an action involves the user completing some action.

Product A has a trial, Person A submits there email and uses product for trial period but doesn't purchase the product. That would be an example of a lead without a conversion.
 
Ideally it's a contact information of a person interested in purchasing some product (insurance, loan, webhosting, whatever)
 
I might be going off the deep end here... but do you think you might want to research and learn the absolute basics before trying to do something? I'm all for the trial-and-error approach but if you don't even understand the terminology you're unlikely to find much success.

Anyway, good luck(?)
 
Maybe I asked the question the wrong way. What I mean is, who qualifies as a "lead". If the offer says it converts on "email submit", then does it mean that ANY email submission qualifies as a "lead", or is there further hidden criteria, e.g. location, age, etc.?

I ask this because I tried to complete my OWN Cpa offer using a private proxy to give me a US Ip address, in order to test the process that a US visitor goes through (i'm currently in another country).

But when I click on the email submit offer, I submit my (valid) email, and then go on to fill out other advertisements/surveys just to make sure. But when I check on my network it doesn't show that a lead id generated. I've repeated the process with another email submit offer but it still didn't work, hence why I decided to post here so I could get some clarification.

Generally, yeah, any lead is good. But every network scrubs them "somehow" (nobody probably knows how).


An NO you absolutely cannot fill out these offers by yourself, the network might register that you're using the same IP or email as the one you use to log in or something, I dont know, just dont do that.
