If i wanted to rank locally in Canada
.ca is best for canada but
Example: if i want to rank for "toronto dentist"

What would be better
Besttorontodentist.ca (is not emd but is .ca)
Or
Torontodentist.net (emd but is not .ca)

The one with .ca for sure.

Forget about EMD. It ain't as good as the way it used to be.
 
I would also use .ca because if its for Canadians then that's probably the one they will klick on, or I would atleast

What about for seo
.Ca is good for ranking on google.ca but also emd is good for seo

On my local sites I use the country code and that's works for me.
I don't know Which of them that is better for seo, for a local site like the one you are planning I would bet on .ca
 
Always go with local top level domain rather than EMD.
 
if your business is related to canada then .ca will best.
