What domain name is better foobar.net or foo-bar.com

Hi,

regarding SEO and SERPS which domain name would be ranked better (regardless backlinks, etc)

a foobar.net or foo-bar.com where foo and bar are keywords. Foo and bar are not related to each other.

Example

goodforknicecat.net goodfork-nicecat.com

EMD's work better in niches with low competition and less information.
Personally, I will always choose .net here because .com and .net both are my preferred extensions but not a big fan of hyphen in domain.

do not taken any kind of hyphen used domain you must be going foobar its good obviously.
 
I think it's just a matter of preference. In my opinion, both options are equally good
 
Definitely go with foobar.net

Domains with hyphens are bad for branding in several different ways. Also .net is a good extension that lots of big websites use.

From an seo perspective I doubt it will make any difference. From a UX perspective the variant without the hyphen is definitely better imho.

I can confirm I had a domain name like foo-bar.com , and it did really great in SEO (500k visitors).
BUT it was very 2 shory easy keywords like foo-bar.com
One important note you said to focus on brand and memorability

The Example that the op mentioned is bad choice in my opinion for the .net since its too crowded and hard to remember.

in the other hand lets say you want the domain examlabs.com and its taken.
then in this case exam-labs.com is not a bad choice.
I do believe .com has slightly better seo

I have the same dilema with foo-bar.ai (free domain) or foobar.com (which costs 3k) , and im not sure what to do.

not if they are really short 2 catchy keywords , and the domain is short it can be catchy
 
Any TLD is better than something great with a hyphen.

Source: My toasted anecdotal brain from experience
 
Personally i would always go for the domain without the hyphen if i had the choice. Google probably does not care but i think it just looks a little better when theres no hyphen included. But its your choice.
 
Foobar.net is better.
