Hello,

We are currently doing some chages within our business and one point that has risen is rebranding.

We target only searches from Romania.

We are trying to rank well for the equivalent of "web hosting" in Romanian. Up until now, we've used a domain name which translates to something like "rowhosting.ro". The domain was registered back in 2007. The pagerank for the domain is 2 and not a lot of SEO was done to the previous sites, as our business model was based on recommandations and getting web development companies to use our services for their clients.

Now SEO is what we need in order to get more market share.

We've managed to register the equivalent of "webhosting.ro", but this happened 8 months ago.

So here's the question: should we use the old domain and do SEO on it or use this new keyword domain?

emd works more good than simple domain (if you are going to start fresh )

EMD matters but the 6 year head start the other domain has will surely weigh in. You'll have to invest heavily in the new domain for it to reach the reputation of the previous one....

Redirect your old domain to new one ;) Should go really nice with EMD.

if your previous domain has any age or IBL advantages it could be wise to stick with it, especially if the name is a nice brand name. Of course their is an SEO advantage with an EMD but it doesn't guarantee you a ranking.. you need good links regardless
