What does authority site means to you?

Hello guys, I have this quick question for you. Title says it all. Most people on IM journeys generally want something stable that will be able to sustain them financially for a certain amount of time and it is often suggested to have an authority site. So my main question is how do I make my small blog becomes an authority site? I assume some people have succeeded in this area and I would like to hear their wisdom. What's your path to building an authority site?

You see it all too often, people confusing a big site with an authority site. Your site can have 1m pages, if it ranks for fuck all, it has fuck all authority. Authority site is just a site that is best in its niche.
 
It feels like all these authority sites (except steam etc) blasted milions on seo

Pretty much. Authority comes from Google, and if Google considers a site an authority it will reward it with traffic and lots of keywords. This is the easiest way to tell if a site is a fake piece of shit PBN that sellers are trying to make a dime off. You see it all the time, liars selling a high metric site for $150/post and then you check semrush and it gets like 8 visitors a day. The only thing those are good for is spam blasting with T2 links.

In seo terms, it's a site which ranks , it has good solid metrics and plenty of organic traffic.

I also regard a site like this as one I would use to reference something, so if I was looking for some medical advice I'd do to a hospital site and not to some random persons blog, covered in Adsense etc. It offers good information and is a credible source.
 
If I google keywords within the same niche and this site is in top 10 for 95% of the search terms, then that's an authority site.
 
A site that ranks on the first page for hundreds of keywords despite not having any links to some of its pages.
 
The key is to create a content that your audience will love. So you need to create quality and fresh content. That's your foundation.
