What does an AI consultant do?

Hello,

If I were to become an AI consultant and study AI. Will I also have to know the coding part of AI? Or just what AI services are there? What are those services limitations? What`s the difference between MidJourney and Dalll-E? For example, where in the company can you use AI to make the process a lot simpler?
Is it stuff like that or do I need to know coding?

An AI consultant can be created in form of computer based AI which is the proof that you know what you're talking about as an AI consultant.
A human AI consultant that doesn't program computer AI consultants is a manipulator and a liar deceiving themselves.
You need some expertise to be a good consultant. Nobody likes non-experienced consultants.

I can tell you right off the bat that an AI consultant wouldn't say to use midjourney, especially self-hosted one.
They would say something like this:
- Program AI using AWS cloud.
- Do not use expensive machines for start.
- Use Google Colab to limit spendings.
- Use AI along with software that has AI built into it like Adobe Cloud.
- Train own AI on own GPUs for heavier tasks where the benefit is really clear (it's really advanced, requires big budgets / exp).

I didn`t understand anything except the fact that I was inexperienced and nobody would like it. Everybody has got to start from somewhere. This a new niche and it`s growing I should be in it. But I don`t know what exactly the work entails.

Adobe software is good for you and stick to it.
https://claude.ai is good as well.
Your costs are minimal and you can create a ton of content that people will like.
Those tools are suitable for both beginner and advanced users.

If you don't understand, learn and train.

No, I don`t understand what an AI consultant does. I just know it`s the new shiny thing. Do you need to know coding? What do you need to know in more detail in order to become a consultant?
Do you understand me now? I don`t want to look condescending; I just don`t know, and sometimes people don`t understand exactly what I`m asking.

What a consultant does? Talks to people giving them advice and guides them.
It's similar to a guide or a leader.

You can give simple advice to beginners using Telegram, Discord, E-mail. It's a form of consulting.
First you need to write down which AI model / website is for what tasks. Then you give recommendations to people.

A more professional consultant talks to big companies.

What's your angle here really? What an AI consultant does can easily be found on Google or by asking any AI; they will provide you with all the information. Make a plan, ask AI to write your one and go ahead.

There are a variety of professions related to AI, including prompt engineering, AI research, AI development, and more. Do you need to study AI? Yes. What exactly? Everything, starting from the beginning.

To be an AI consultant, you also need to understand what a consultant does in general. It doesn't really matter whether it's a management consultant or a startup consultant; the knowledge stack varies, but the consulting principles remain the same.
 
I think that an AI consultant doesn't have to program. His role is different. He should advice what solutions will be the best in a specific case, depending on requirements.
But it all depends on what an employer writes in a job offer. Nowadays, employers want the most from you by giving you the least :P

You can do anything, you just need to find a customer that will demand what you have to offer.
There are no strict rules to anything in life. Realize that and you will be free.

You can make an offer and ask people what do they think about your offer and what to correct.
 
If you want to be a consultant, one that actually gets hired, you first become an EXPERT in the field. This means that yes, you know how to code, you know how to prompt, you know how to run LLM's locally, you know how to run servers, how to install and use Stable Diffusion, etc. You know how to do the things a business might want to do with AI and you can consult them on things like AI not actually being AI. If I ask you to explain LLM to me, you need to be able to do it.

No, telling them a few prompts is not enough. You found the new shiny shiny but it's been going on for years. You want to be in this field, then step 1 is not "how do i become a consultant", step 1 is you learn EVERYTHING about AI. And if you want to make money, trust that there's thousands upon thousands of easier ways to make money.

It's clear you saw new shiny shiny and want easy money, but this ain't it. AI is filled with meganerds, they sure AF don't need newbie guy who doesn't know the difference between Midjourney and Dall-E. It would be like being a baker consultant and you go in like "uhhh, don't know the difference between flower and sugar". No one's gonna pay you for that.

If you learn only about AI, you're gonna miss the big image and big tech doesn't like narrow image. Big tech people think BIG!

Who would like to only be able to do AI? If you add control, stable things to AI, you're a lot better.

AI is not priority. You start with creation, building and then add AI into some corners of all the stuff you have.

If you want to be "AI only", you're asking for hell. Those "nerds" aren't enjoying what they're doing. I speak from practice.

It's like "software engineer only". If you only engineer software, you're doing same stuff 10 hours a day. Everything burns.

You're essentially selling your life and being for some specialization that is meaningless. It's changing so fast chasing it doesn't make sense.

I consider myself an AI consultant for myself. 25 years in front of screens got me here.

You need to know coding very well. There will be more technical aspects to learn as well.
