Curious about what the multiple applications to make money with them are.

There are endless uses for a gmail account.

Yes they have a lot of differents typo of use, you can even use it to register and spam on website..(like Pinterest)
Or open a YouTube channel on each one email
 
You can use it to register on lots of websites, such as facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, pinterest, and lots of sites support Gmail registration. Affiliate programe marketing, Survey Online.
However, you need to avoid multiple gmails association and being banned. then you need help from 911 Proxy and Antidetect Browser.
 
Multiple Gmails are used for various reasons. A few are : creation of Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, etc accounts, signups for various websites, sending multiple emails, etc.
 
Multiple gmails are used for facebook, youtube channels, fake websites, sign up shopping website....etc
 
I used them earlier for random website registrations or some social media verification like reddit (for more account legitimacy).

how would one monetize from fb instagram and sending mail with just multiple mails?
 
For SEOer, you can take it to register accounts for google analytics and google console and get further traffic data for multiple standalone sites.
Register Google Ads accounts for shopify or WP websites.
and get Youtube channel for video marketing.
Affiliate Program.

Generally Speaking, can used for any money-earn websites, Traffic arbitrage and more.
 
Opening various accounts, sending multiple e-mails and so on.

For PBNs you mean, to not have them under the same GA account?

yeap， multiple gmails under the same GA account will caused association, one gmail account banned will caused another one and more banned. especially for some sensitive and gray industries, such as Adult Businesss.
