What do you think Reddit checks during the warm-up?

Stupid question, or maybe not. What do you think? I’m asking those with experience: what does Reddit check during the warm-up? Time spent on the site, visiting posts, likes, joining subreddits?

I personally think it only checks the entry. For example, I find a post I like, I open it, look at it, and leave. That should already count as a warm-up action, right?

Firstly there's an account trust score set right at the creation time. If that is low, the account can get flagged at the slightest move.

Leaving that aside and assuming the account is a 'legit' looking one, Reddit will track all kind of stuff and actions like if the device can respond well to the JS scripts/signal the site is sending (that's why poor automation setups fail) - to what is the usage pattern and activity on that account. The later is also important as Reddit has a large enough database to compare between what can be authentic usage or just a setup for future spamming.

But the warm-up is solely for increasing an account's trust score. What you said is vague. My question is different: which specific warm-up action increases the score?

You can't increase any score of an already flagged account. Such an account will always be on the verge of a ban, that's why my reply started with how Reddit will assigns a score based on the creation process.

Getting back to warming them up, even just browsing can increase score. Browsing contains many types of actions: scrolling the front page, opening post pages, visiting subreddits, clicking next pictures of an image post, watching videos, visiting user profiles... you get the idea. Not even upvotes, saves or joining subreddits, let alone commenting or posting. Just browsing with the account on its assigned device and IP/network.

Then of course, being active in discussions, posting, gaining upvotes and all the other bits will add more - but these needs be made incrementally.
 
So, in your opinion, is the warm-up action of simply logging in and visiting a subreddit the same as the warm-up action of visiting a post? Excluding joining a subreddit or voting, which don’t increase the score?

I'm still not convinced by what you're saying. If I buy a 1-year-old account today, do I need to do a warm-up action to avoid getting banned?

This post is not about a newly created account but about warming up an old account or purchased accounts. Yesterday, I wrote a post on how to create an account.

Not the same but still within the warmup category :) On the long term one or the other can help. I can't know how much 'points' any action is worth. I came to personal conclusions by years of working with Reddit.

If you get any account that was inactive for a long period of time, yes, you'll want to gradually warm it up. Even if it was active recently, if that account will swap device fingerprints and IP that's going to place it in a hot spot, so again warming up will help.

Real devices and using mobile IP's. Then a few genuine actions, keep it up for a few good days before trying any mild promotion.
 
So, there is no other solution.

Not even browsing, just having the browser open can help too.

Leave it open overnight and it'll age well. Here are events from sitting on a page without actions for 3 minutes.

Most social sites do this, not just Reddit.

My hope was, like before, to find the magic action. Now it seems gone; it seems that logging into Reddit matters more than anything else.
 
Adding on to what these gentleman wrote, keep the post history casual for a few weeks/month.

The idea is to do this with 50-100 accounts. Rotating your proxies and assigning proxies to specified accounts.

If you were reviewing a new Reddit account's (or any other social media account) activity, what would stand out as spammy to you? Avoid all of that and it becomes a bit easier at a larger scale.

No, I was looking for the magic action, the one that existed until a month ago, where 1-year-old accounts could be warmed up with just 2 actions. I believe it no longer exists.

Reddit algo can easily mark the account at that time as AFK since there's no real activity

like for me the account warming only really worked 2-3 months ago, but until now it was completely meaningless to me, not confirming anything until now with reddit, simply scrolling and warming up the account at the present time for me it absolutely does not make the account better
 
Warming up should only be done when you buy accounts or change their fingerprint, not for accounts you’ve created and kept on the same machine. The warm-up for new accounts is the registration process.

I currently have about 3,000 accounts from three months ago, all needing to be warmed up. Warming these accounts can take up to 10 days, which is why I’m looking for a faster method.

In short, it looks at how much your behavior resembles a human, and not a bot. And all your actions should be to humanize your account
