what do you think about metaverse?

Honestly, it's a term that is "recently" made; but in reality it's been around for ages now...

Metaverse is good , but there are many more projects wide better and wonderful then metaverse

Hardware is totally not ready for it. I think right now it is just an idea smart people are selling to idiots who invest huge money into thinking it is just around corner, feels lot to me like dot com bubble in 2000s and im guy who makes living investing in crypto and nfts right now. Virtual reality is inevitable, but it is not 5 years in future, more like 30-50 because we are hitting barrier of how small transistors can we create that would still work.
Exactly. Nvidia sells its gpus for $2k-$3k for God’s sake. Even those gpus can’t handle 0.01% of ready player one style metaverse. We were promised flying cars in 2020, instead we got shiттy centralized play to earn games, and they call it metaverse. Ray Kurzweil keeps postponing his singularity vision, it was 2030, now it is 2045, in a few years, he will give up and move to somewhere in himalayas and die there.

Metaverse has potential, Oculus's sometimes overrated as sometimes Metaverse can be also, yes graphics in Metaverse not the best either compared to Dark Souls games and other newer games. Yes Erron Black I agree with you I think gpus are overpriced often also. Is there other built games on the metaverses blocknetworks with better graphics?

What exists now isn't exactly Metaverse. They are willing to sell skins and property for virtual avatars
We need a proper Metaverse, but it will come in decades

I will probably get roasted for this but personally

i think that CURRENT metaverse = elegant scam !!

The metaverse has potential but is a 5-10 years away from being useful.

I have been a VR enthusiast since the quest came out. I purchased the first and 2nd device. I have also read a ton of information from John Carmack which I highly recommend so I understand the metaverse well.

For those who don't know the quest was the first VR device to have no cables, which is how it MUST be for adoption. cables ruin the experience.

VR has one massive problem and it comes down to latency.
Being inside VR is uncomfortable over time because latency is above 15-20 ms. I think its around 50 right now. This is from the controllers to the headset to the display all working together they must ALL be under 20ms.

What this causes is different for everyone but it hurts your body/brain and is hard to describe. Nausea mainly I would say.

For the human brain and body to not get fatigued and confused like this latency must be fixed first and foremost.
I am not sure about frame rate. If anyone knows please share but I imagine frame rate must also hold steady at something above 90fps as I can definitely tell the difference between 60 and 120hz but not sure where the threshold is.

The weight of the headset is semi annoying as well. This needs to be smaller.

Metaverse is interesting. Oculus quest games are very immersive but the experience is still very uncomfortable.

I have actually made a few VR unity projects but I gave up on them as developing and getting sick every time you play gets annoying.

Yup. but now we have the tech for it. in the past it's just too far away.

Real life > Metaverse
Nah when real metaverse exist one with real quality and decent price. i bet most people will choose to live in it. Heck even now we have people that only live with pc NEET.

music videos are already starting to metaverse

we're already in the metaverse but our interfaces, bandwidth not that developed yet
