While waiting for my mobile application to gain some traction I've decided I wanted to go ahead and start moving into the freelancing section of the Internet. I have quite an arsenal of programming skills available, however my advertised specialties are going to be in web development. (NOTE: not design)
I'm curious as to what you would want to see in a portfolio if you were looking to hire someone to do some work for you.
I've thought about the following:
I just don't have any idea what people are looking for, could anyone shed some light?
I've never looked for someone else to do work for me, so I wouldn't know.

I've thought about the following:
- An in-house blog software
- An in-house forum software
- Some stores utilizing different payment processors
- A live chat using PHP and NodeJS (Two different pages)
- Perhaps a simple multiplayer HTML5 game?
