Didn't find a better place to post this in.

I use google alerts for all my keywords in the niche and lately a lot of websites that are very similar to mine are popping up. My niche is a service and it can be mimicked pretty easily, anyone can run it.

The websites that have been created have the EMD i'm ranking for, but with crappy extensions like .net .org .info etc...

The layout is exactly the same as mine, I mean even the menu bar is my menu bar, same adplaces, it just looks like a cheap version of my site. Now the content is also the same, but manages to be unique. The person must have put a lot of effort in to create such content. The website is not a competitor just now, very far from it, but my own site is only a few months old.

What would you do?

If the content is exactly the same and not just rewritten, File a DMCA notice to google search engine and to the host the person is using.

There is not much you can do in term of fair play. You don't own a monopole for your niche/keyword, if the content is unique in its own way, fuck it you need to work hard to keep your top.
Also .org .net are not cheap extension lol

A while ago a friend showed me a flippa listing that was apparently making $300 a month in some low comp health niche. Instead of buying the site we decided to make a copy of it and rank it better. When we were on like page 3 or so we got an email from the guy that had the flippa listing.....PISSED. I don't have the email, but he basically said he's going to report our site for copying his (we DID steal his before after pics). Fast forward a couple months and we're still rockin on page 1 (with him).

If I were you, I would just keep pushing forward and don't waste your time with the copy site.
