Wondering if anyone has some tricks that work wonders when you get burnt out. I work full time job during the day and do my online work at night and weekends. Pretty burnt out, motivation is low, feel lazy and tired. Putting a picture of my dream car in front of me doesn't work anymore. Already married so talking about girls won't do anything.

Paintball.. I play paintball every so often.. shooting the little kids makes me smile. :)

Take a break. If it takes a few days to relax and refresh, then do it. You'll hit it harder when you come back than you will mindlessly droning about unmotivated. You'll also see things from different angles, I know I do. When I get stressed, I turn off all technological devices and go spend time with family. None of them are into anything internet related, so I get to talk about things that change my perspective. You already have a FT job, so I'm assuming bills are taken care of. Just chill out for a few days. :)

Are you making money online? If so, look at your checking account (to see income). If you are not making money online, look at your bills (to make you start working).

I do not have long periods of feeling burnt out but when I have short periods, I lay down in the office on the floor and just think and have a notepad with me for ideas. I usually think of a new project and hop up and start working on it.

I know what it is like though with two jobs. Been there, done that, and now do IM full-time. At some point, something has to go. Hopefully there is an opportunity for growth that keeps you motivated.

Yeah, FT job takes care of 100% of bills and my discretionary spending.

I'm in the $X,XXX per month range, on a good month in the low $XX,XXX range. So it is not life changing money, but peace of mind money.

take a break for few days and go out for long walks in the nature.

Since you have a full-time job and are earning 'peace of mind' money as you put it, you don't HAVE to be working non stop to make ends meet, so you can afford some time off - I recommend you take at least 1 entire weekend a month and either go camping / holidaying away from home, or if that's not possible just make a commitment not to spend it online.

Going away for the weekend works for me, it forces me to be away from the temptations of the interwebs, and the gf (wife in your case) appreciates that she gets alone time with you. And she doesn't give you so much flack then when you do spend long hours online the other nights / weekends.

And Marusia is 100% right, when you do then get into it again, you actually work harder and are more productive than before.
I'm trying to explain this is why i need a 3 day weekend every week, but my boss isn't buying it...

I have no personal experience but I have heard/read online that Speed works wonders, alternatively Ecstasy. :D

Know just how you feel OP, just in a bit of a slump myself and have really not done much on my sites for past week or so. Looking at picking up again next week or week after. Taking a break is a good idea.

get off your computer for a few days. Especially if you are on a computer all day at work. Do something that doesn't involve a screen or even your eyes at all.

Audiobooks are great, eyes can totally relax.

read some fiction, get away from business books and techniques and methods and how to's for a few days. It's like hitting the reset switch in some ways.

get some exercise, go for a walk / run / bike and get the blood moving through your veins again.

finally, think about and get back to primary motivation. If the car and girls aren't what you're working towards, that's fine, but you have to ask yourself the hard questions of what's really important to you and what you're working towards.

If you're in a long term rut, this article has helped me out quite a bit in the past.
