Lately I've been really obsessed with trying to maximize my email deliverability. I have a custom-built mail server running Linux.

I found https://winning.email, which was useful for helping analyze things in my server, email header, or DNS setup that I could fix.

I?ve also setup Feedback Loops (using this guide: http://www.port25.com/list-of-current-feedback-loops-offered-at-isps/) with most of the major email providers, and I?m handling the spam reports (unsubscribing the complainants).

What other suggestions do people have for improving their email delivery rates?

I switched from email marketing to SMS to optimize my list.

With SMS, there is an incredibly high rate of subscriber action. Whatever your SMS is ? promotions or contests ? there is more action taken compared to any other marketing or promotion strategies.

Interesting...I haven't tried SMS marketing yet...should give it a shot!

Unlike email, SMS doesn?t have to battle against spam or other email filters. If anything, SMS is more of a direct connection to your customer base than any other marketing strategy, and there aren?t any barriers.

I can send you a link to a video about it if you like

Sure, that'd be great, thanks!

You can try http://serversmtp.com/ ... I had to sign up with them because my shared hosting server IP kept getting flagged in spamhaus due to abuse by others on the server and messages weren't getting out to customers... I haven't had any problems with them since I signed up months ago. Hope this helps :)
