I feel like online marketers this is one of the hardest questions I get

"what do you do for a living " ?

When u say " online marketing " they're like cool but what do you do in online marketing?
what am I supposed to do? explain all the of online businesses / websites / amazon fba / ventures Im running or trying to build ? lol just curious how u guys handle this question :D

Tell them "I fulfill online services for people that need websites or platforms"
 
"I provide consultation and online marketing services to individual or corporation"

Don't tell anyone at all, when someone asks tell them you are alive on your parents money :p this will save you from all the explanation imo.
 
I'd just tell , I do SEO.
You search stuff on Google, yeah ?

The act of optimizing those websites to come first on Google.

That's my job. Any further question, I sure refer them to Google to click on the first 3 results on SERP.
 
Are you living in the world's 2nd most populated country ? (I am at the moment). I'd like to call a spade a spade >>> In the world's 2nd most populated country, even educated people (who are not into online marketing or digital marketing), have weird ideas and absolutely no clue about what online marketing or digital marketing. Imagine, Doctors, Engineers, Chartered Accountants, when they ask me what I do and I tell them I am into digital marketing, their reply is "Oh, OK, OK, data entry" !!!. Whereas in the west people are more aware of online marketing and digital marketing, because in the west there is a lot of self-learning. And online marketing or digital marketing requires a lot of self-learning. So, now onwards if people ask "What do you do ?", better to reply "Whatever it takes".

And dear folks, please read OP's main post (in this thread) : OP is NOT asking us what we do for a living. OP has mentioned about OP's predicaments about when OP tells people that OP does online marketing for a living. But, anyways, this is Lounge, so we can do a bit of "tipsy".

For a living I do not need to do anything now.
Most of my work is automated. I get paid daily and sometimes monthly without much work.
I start new ventures and try new things to keep myself busy though.
 
Just tell them you do work you can't talk about in public, and let their brains run.
 
"If you need a web/app or launch/boost your online business, you'll need a lot of things done. If you come to me you will just need me."

Now that's what I have started saying when someone asks me that question. :)
 
I am also in search of answer this question.. But i'm trying different things but still there is no money
 
a small customer service support in an Internet company...want to do some part-time job to increase some pocket money？
