what do you consider an acceptable download speed

hi there im just curious to know what do you all consider and acceptable download speed. i recently got a 256k broadband connection which is a lot faster than i ever had but i would like to know your recommendations esp if someone likes to download a lot of stuff.

I think it depends on who you are. Personally I'm happy with anything that I can download within a few minutes or so depending on how big the file is. I don't really care though. Downloading really depends on the server you're downloading from. I've downloaded from sites at over 1 megabyte per second (I have Comcast) and at the same time I've downloaded from sites that were 2 kilobytes per second with the same connection. I also download things that take me a couple of days even though I have a fast connection.
