What do you actually use reddit for?

Well, mainly for native promotion of their brands, through posts and comments

Both. I use it personally for niche hobbies, but it's also effective for brand projects in specific communities.

Do you mainly use reddit for personal stuff (advice, hobbies, news), or does it also work well for brands and projects?
Reddit is great for personal use, but it can work for brands too if done carefully. It’s better for feedback, research, and soft visibility than direct promotion. Hard selling usually backfires there.

I've tuned in to some fashion-related subreddits as they seem to be pretty quick and active with people trying on stuff and giving good reviews!

I use it for personal entertainment and for business purposes, including marketing one of my digital projects, which has seen great results. Reddit is definitely one of my top three favorite social media platforms

I have been doing some complaints there for some companies when I did not get my downloads .. so that is all, :)

It works well for me as b2b service based business. Reddit is a gold mine for high intent leads. Look for a problem that lot of people complains about almost daily, find a provider that has the solution, Partner up with them, set your authority on that industry. After a 3-6months you’ll see the result

reddit is primarily used as a source of authentic, community-driven
information, allowing users to find specific answers from real
people, discuss niche interests, and keep up with news.

Honestly, I don’t use Reddit much, but I’m curious to explore it more.

I also dont use reddit due to its strict restrictions, you cant even clear your doubts. Everytime the bot's sends you a warning :/

for personal use niche topics, as long as you dont heavily engage in controversial subs, ie, news or politics, or any related subs that can get you easily temp or perma baned.

Part of it is just scrolling random content, and part of it is useful for finding recommendations for products and local restaurants and things to do. I see more and more people subtly promoting their own things on there now. The important thing is (as the earlier person said) to seem like it's authentic and community driven.

I think Reddit is fun; I've been using it since 2015 for both personal and business purposes. Generally, I start an account and naturally gain a lot of karma because I already have my own system for easily acquiring it. After a while, I sell the account and start another one from scratch. And Repeat

In between, I also make promotional posts (affiliate links or product sales). On average, I make about 20 personal normal posts for every promotional post, so I stay under the radar and can keep going.

I don’t really use Reddit at the moment, so most of my experience is limited (sorry - not really helpful!). That said, I’ve been looking at it more recently from a marketing angle rather than personal use.

From what I can see, it can work for brands and projects, but only if it’s done carefully and in a value first way. The communities are very protective, so it seems less about direct promotion and more about contributing, building credibility, and letting opportunities come from that.

I’m still in the research and testing phase with it, so I don’t have hard results yet, but it’s definitely on my radar as a potential traffic source. I’ll be watching this thread to see what others are doing and what’s working for them.
As social media develops, it's not just limited to the things you mentioned; it's also a business and advertising opportunity for everyone.

Reddit answers a lot of my questions and gives me reviews on products. I feel better getting a review from people on Reddit vs the reviews on Amazon
