What are the things we need to do to get our website/listing into the Google maps listing onto the first page?

Do backlinks benefit this or is this more about citations from local directories etc?

I know this might be silly question to some, But any help would be great :)

    thanks

You shouldn't be posting questions about local business in the Black Hat section.

Consistent citations are definitely very important, but you also have to put them in context. Citations drive the local search engine, but mostly as a way to gather other metrics. They don't want to know how many you have, they want to see how reputable you are. If your reviews are bad and you fix a bunch of NAPs, you're not really redeeming yourself. If you have great reviews and get all your citations straight, you'll benefit. Google isn't dumb, especially on specific stuff like this.

Bad reviews are irrelevant to local search results. There is no connection between the quality of the reviews that are posted and a business's rank in the local search results. In fact, when faking reviews, it is important to have a few negatives in order to appear "natural" both to humans and machines. Google IS dumb. It's a dumb computer running a dumb algorithm that can only see the data that it has. The only exception to this is when a local listing comes up for manual review.

SEO is a self-taught endeavor. You are laying around, begging to be spoon-fed. If you persist in this vein, and do not develop the ability to research your own information, analyze it and come to your own conclusions, you are going to be victimized by every delusional jackass that thinks he knows something. You'll be insulting and annoying people that DO know things by asking them to reconcile what they've said against what some clueless dumbass has said, since both can't be right. Eventually, people that know things will ignore you, and all you'll have left talking to you are the retards that don't know shit, and they'll make you stupid like they are.

    Stupidity is contagious.

People that know things expect, respect, and demand that those that profess to want to learn get off their ass and answer their own questions to the greatest extent possible. You would do well to ponder the adage about "pearls before swine" and put yourself into the shoes of the people that are trying to help you.

Local SEO is different and have many difficulties. Like removal of wrong NAP work and claiming and doing correct NAP citations. NAP should be same on GP and listing and website. Image geotagging, videos, more the number of citations, real reviews etc. I have list of 500+ local citations directories for USA which I do for all of my client businesses.

Get more reviews in your Google Places listing. Build more citations. Keep patience.
