What do I do with my keywords?

I have no idea how to use keywords, but I think I have been properly researching them
My website can have articles/posts with the keywords quite a bit but I'd like a solid answer on how to rank with low competition keywords

Are you not familiar with SEO? If you're targeting low competition keywords, then it shouldn't take too much link building to rank (In most circumstances). However, this is dependent on a variety of factors. My suggestion would be to purchase an SEO package from the marketplace, read the reviews others have had from the service and if others are seeing results, give it a go.

Include one keyword along with several LSI keywords (similar or synonym keywords) in each article. Add them in your body's text, make sure your keyword density doesn't get too high (I would say anything above 3%, but there's no exact percentage), add them in the slug (URL), include them in your image's alt text, and them anywhere else you would like (within reason; don't stuff them).

Keep in mind that "low competition" can cover a huge range of keywords and websites.

It's useful to categorize them into subsets. Like "low-low competition, medium-low competition, high-low competition, etc". Reason I say this, sometimes people think their targeting low competition due to stats they read, but then you look at the links manually and realize "this is not low competition ' ".

Local niches can be deceiving like this. Some keywords I go after get 320 SM. The sites usually only have 200-1000 backlinks. Yet they're in the top 500 most expensive adwords terms. And when I go through someones profile to see an 8 year old pr 3 directory link... + 50 other strong paid directory links, that's a problem. Some of these guys are spending $10-$30k / month on SEO. Meanwhile I'm trying to compete with profits of $40-$50k / month.

Anyway, you asked "how to rank". If you're asking this question I'm assuming you can't decipher the value of links. If you could, you'd analyze your competitors links and build a better profile.

You should also analyze the root domain too. Back in 2013 I thought "cure hypothyroidism" "how to treat hypothyroidism" "how to make money online" were low competition keywords. All you needed was a parasite + GSA blast. It was a revolving market of spammers ranking everywhere. These days these keywords have been snuffed out by authority sites. I may see a page with 10-20 links and think "this is easy". Then I analyze the root, internal links, and am like "wtf.... no thank you!" I've noticed the reverse on my strongest local site. I have long tails ranking with 0 backlinks. Then I see guys with EMD sites trying to steal those phrases, building links, I have no idea why they can't rank. My root is strong but under the old Google algo they deserve / would get those phrases. This current algo Google's got a boner for the root.

Best advice I can give, analyze everything. The backlinks, internal links and the root. Overvalue the root then assimilate that into your backlink plan.
And obviously the onpage SEO. There's some guys who are onpage purists. Using static html over wordpress, cloudlfare, SSL, htaccess, pristine on page, etc. Watch out for them too.

WOW thanks for well written reply, my competition just happens to be ranked for those words, some of the other keywords are actual competition but my website is damned specific that it's practically the only website that will make sense for the keyword phrase. The domain is the keyword phrase


Let's use the example, kobebeefinportland.com
Brings in 10k searches per month for the 36 keywords I managed to come up with, still gotta work on the long tails.
Only problem is it's so city specific, but I'm looking at enough searches per month and I can advertise, I think the website is super resourceful and because KOBE beef is getting super popular this year, well I see a trend and by 2018 EVERYONE will be eating Kobe beef at least a couple times of year, and what better way to figure out where to go than my premium review website?


Goal is to charge those restaurants when I am bringing in enough traffic, figure out ways to track customers from my website back to them later.


This is only an example, my niche is not with food. Oh and I am super new to IM, web/dev, SEO, everything. I just learned about everything in August, I'm also a hash smoker so take that as you will.

The competition on the first page of google for my domain name/main keyword phrase is literally articles and three businesses and their products but those aren't pages that would even convert. Only my website provides the information needed for these keywords, and I'm pretty sure it's in demand as I created this blog because I saw a void in google on being able to help me acquire what I NEEDED.

The first step is to create the page you want to rank by getting together some content. Write a couple paragraphs and include your keyword throughout it, and then post it on your website. You can then go about ranking that page by building backlinks and eventually make some money once traffic comes through the page.

Start implementing perfect onpage on your website then do submission on high page rank social bookmarking website daily and other website with use of proper title. With low competition and you do proper link building plan with high quality sites probably your keyword will rank within few weeks or month
