    Hey guys.

I have a 4 year old website in the sports niche. Over the years i have tried many methods of monetizing it but i have earned a total of 200$ from it. So after 4 years i am ready to give up on it. I have written 799 posts on it and yet for some reason it still is a PR 0. As you can see below it's not like i spammed it with backlinks.

    My questions are-

1- Is there anyway to turn this into something else (non sports niche)? The domain has the name of one of the biggest cities in the world and i'd love to make it into a authority site to be used in a PBN. My only concern is that Google has it indexed as a sports news site. Not sure how it will impact the change i want to bring about in my site.

2- Any ideas for a domain with a city name in it? All i can think of is a travel blog.

Would appreciate some advice from those who dabble in these kind of things.
    Thanks guys.

First of all, google is in the travel affiliate biz and there's obvious conflicts of interest in converting travel traffic and google's "organic" search. You'll notice the travel SERPs are very very suspiciously dominated by some big names. So there's that.

Secondly, you have 800 articles and no traffic? That sounds like you've either got banned or you did something terribly wrong.

I got plenty of traffic. Most from Reddit/Twitter and my pages are indexed in Google. I have never done any Black hat seo on this. All i did was manual quality comments on other sports blogs and a few backlinks from PDF sites (quality pdf reports that would interest someone who follows the sport).

What i am baffled abut is why i am PR0?

So travel blog is out. Dang !

I will not be worried about the PR0 last update has been one year ago and seems that there will be no future updates. However the PR0 doesn't count for you.

The DA 20, this means that your link profile is poor and it is correct that it is not normal that with 800 articles you don't get traffic.

If they are all original and you haven't done any spam action, you should hire a professional that analyse the website and gives to you a good advice on how to deal with it. Will not be converting it in something else that will drive you more traffic.

With this amount of articles (only if they are all original 100%) you should do at least $2000 per month without move a finger.

Check my income reports on my websites in signature. I have nothing compared as you as website.

Take a serious look at your onpage seo, it may be that people are not seeing what they think they are going to see and they leave.

What is your bounce rate, and how are you monetizing?

That's not the reason why i want to move into a new niche. The sports news niche is highly competitive and the one to make a post first wins. Not to mention that you are competing with the ESPNs and Bleacher reports.

Adsense, banner ads, clickbank you name it and i have tried it. However at this stage i just want to use that aged domain to build something new and i am not sure how i can get google to 'forget' the current website so i can build a new authority site from scratch. Do i delete this site and then star over or is there a better way?

A little bump. Still looking for answers. If i create a new Wordpress installation and point the domain to it will it be considered a new site? Since none of the previous posts will be accessible. Or should i use the robot.txt to keep the old site off limits while i build a new one.

    Appreciate any help.

Don't do this, fix it instead of giving up on it. Try to check what the problems might be, duplicate content, overoptimization, stuff like this that take you off the SERPs.

Due to the low count on backlinks... then the culprit has got to be the panda penalty which is related to your on-page seo... Check for over optimized keywords in particular... Also check index count of your pages on G as if that is low then that too is a big reason... Look at your meta robots tag and make sure if there is one that it set for follow and your site navigation... consider setting up a site map and submitting it within G's WMT... Good luck!
