I found an old parked domain I want to buy with a good PR. But the it just has a generic parking page on it so I cannot see the meta data.

Is there anyway I can find out what keywords this domain got its PR from? Because if I don't continue using the same keywords it will have a negative effect, right?

PR isn't based on keyword
its based on links and content quality
but still if you wanna find the keyword then you can search for inbound link and check the anchor text that will be the keyword

So if I get this domain and make it into something completely unrelated to what it was before I will keep the PR or will it just drop?

when Google will recrawl the site its obvious that you will lost the rank. but if you just update this by keeping all the things same (Like content, keyowrds etc) then you can keep the PR i think.
But remember that old domains always have a good reputation and they can be a part of convincing the members.

Why not keep the old content and also add fresh content after some time with new keywords without deleting the old one?

PR is based on authority of sites linking in, as long as they still link to your site PR will stay the same. If any of the sites linking in check your site and see that the content isn't what they were previously linking too they will most likely remove the link. So you need to use Seo spyglass or something to see which links are giving this domain the PR and then decide if you think they will ever remove the link. Usually links that are editorial links with articles are least likely to get removed

most likely
but as the other 2 members said
you can keep the old content and after PR update you can add fresh content and try to keep it somewhat related to the old content
