So I ran a campaign for a free trial offer and put a clever ad on craigs list and I got 255 replies to my "one" ad.. which I did not even expect that many, but I was happy.

I sent a creative response to them that I thought would be golden and even did them all manually to make them seem a little more real.

When I was done, I waited 24 hours and checked my stats... I had 50 clicks to my link and ZERO sales or converts. All they had to do was pay for shipping and handling.. and not one person did?

I even got about 40 or 50 replies to my follow up e-mail with people saying thank you for that information.

These were definitely targeted people also... so I don't know what the problem is.

I know this is just a small test and not a lot of people, but I honestly thought out of 255 targeted people, at least 1 person (if not many more) would convert.

Can someone please tell me what I did wrong? Thanks!

    Either two things:

    1) Your link is bad (doesn't contain your aff code)

    2) You got scubbed/shaved

Thanks for the help guys.. I posted this a while ago though.

I think it was just a bad offer that had a bad conversion rate. It was slimvia.. anyone here of it?

It was a private network called slimvia affiliate... I only had one offer, the slimvia weight loss free trial.

My AM told me someone else had sent 4000 e-mails and got 300 hits and 3 sign ups...

Well I did 200 e-mails and 50 hits with zero sign ups.. so it sounds about right with that conversion.

I'll assume there was no shaving, your links are working fine and the offer is a good one. Let's take a look at other possible reasons:

Good work! Seems your ad was a good one if you got this number of replies within a lil time frame.

Based on what? This is most likely where you either make it or screw it. Copywriting is an art form.

If your first ad was good, the second one (the reply) either wasn't good enough OR it gave away more info than required. This is only one of the possibilities.

I strongly suggest automation next time. It can still seem personal.

50 clicks to your link out of 255 interested people, is a lil low. Either your offer isn't 100% targeted or your reply wasn't good enough to make them click.

Another thing to note is that if your offer was related to some sort of job position or making money ...etc. most craigslist leads looking for such things are broke AND have probably been scammed a lot. Your offer has to be too good to resist if you are targeting that area.

Also have you made sure that your craigslist leads are geo-targeted to your offer?

Again, follow up emails is a very good idea, BUT are you doing it correctly? Don't be afraid of direct advertising. Use proven headlines. Try using emotional take action words: Time limited, Fr/ee, You, Discover, Fact....etc.

There are many factors to consider and all should be taken care of.

Remember, out of those 255 only 50 bothered to click on your link in your reply. Probably same reason why not one out of the 50 ordered the free trial.

I'll give you a tip... it might be tiresome, but you will only do it one time and it will tell you the exact reason why they are not interested:

I found out craigslist leads are much more prone to opening up when added to messenger and you talking to them one on one.. They will tell you exactly what is in their minds and you can also convince many of them to order easily when you are via messenger.

Might be worth a try ;)
